The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and the Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP) conducted a Joint Dialogue Engagement for the Davaoeño Veterans on 6 December 2022 held at the Seda Hotel, Davao City. The dialogue was led by PVAO Administrator, USec. Reynaldo B. Mapagu and VFP Real Estate Officer, BGen Pedro Ramon L. Sinajon.

Also present during the event is the Chief of the PVAO Claims Division, Ms. Racquel A. Cajuguiran, who provided a comprehensive presentation regarding the pension and non-pension benefits for the veterans and PVAO Veterans Affairs Management Division Assistant Chief, Ms. Liza T. Dela Cruz who also discussed the assistance that PVAO provides for the members and non-members of the VFP.

During her opening remarks, Ms. Dela Cruz gladly welcomed and acknowledged the veterans who joined the dialogue. “We hope that this will better acquaint you about the services that we can provide for you and how you can avail them,” she said.

She also stressed the importance of holding dialogues with veterans for the improvement of PVAO’s services and to build a stronger rapport with the veterans whoch is essential in responding to their needs. “We aim to build and nurture a stronger, more reliable and trustworthy relationship between PVAO, the VFP and all the veterans, through this activity which will only be effective with your active participation,” Ms. Dela Cruz added.

Meanwhile, USec. Mapagu also addressed the concerns of the veterans directly during the program. He also discussed the proposed bills that PVAO and VFP continues to lobby in the Senate and Congress including the Senate Bill 700 which provides for a Php 3,000-increase in the Old Age Pension of war veterans and the House Bill 2490 which seeks to increase the disability pension of veterans from Php 4,500 up to Php 10,000.

USec. Mapagu also encouraged the veterans to support the passage of the bill which has undergone careful research and feasibility studies. “We must come up with courses of action that are feasible and realistic,” he said.

Grateful for the insights and active participation of the veterans in the dialogue, USec. Mapagu also assured the veterans that PVAO is always doing its best to provide high quality of service for the veterans.

“Gusto ko lang magpasalamat sa inyo, nandito kayo nakipag-usap sa amin. We are your servants. We are here to serve you, basta masabi nyo lang na snappy at efficient ang PVAO, masaya na kami. (I just want to thank you all for being here to talk to us. We are your servants. We are here to serve you. As long as you can say that PVAO is snappy and efficient, we are already happy,” USec. Mapagu also said.
