The Philippine Veterans Affairs (PVAO) joins the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in celebrating its 66th Founding Anniversary held today, November 29, 2021 at the VMMC Valdez Hall.

The event was attended by Guest of Honor, Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, PVAO Administrator, Usec. Ernesto Carolina, Quezon City First District Representative Anthony Peter “Onyx” Crisologo, Usec. Raymundo Elefante, Asec. Teodoro Toralba III, and Asec. Jesus Rey Avilla of DND, US Department of Veterans Affairs – Manila Director, Ms. Tracey Betts, and other former and current directors of the hospital.

During the celebration, VMMC reaffirmed its commitment and duty in serving the Filipino veterans and their dependents. VMMC Director, Dr. Dominador Chiong Jr., highlighted the hospital’s current projects and future plans to further improve the medical services and facilities of the VMMC in his opening remarks.

DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana commended VMMC’s improved services and shared his hope for its continuous development to become a world class medical facility that tends to all the medical needs of the Filipino veterans and their families.

The program also highlights the unveiling and blessing of the VMMC’s new iconic structure located in front of its main building. The iconic structure depicts a Filipino and an American soldier, as an image of the friendship between the two countries who fought side by side as a band of brothers during the World War II. The structure also shows the flags of both countries united by the VMMC emblem.

VMMC also unveiled other newly commissioned artworks to enhance the hospital’s main lobby. This includes two hand-made sculptures inspired by Amorsolo’s works and created by Mr. Emerson Morcozo and the central mural painting that depicts “Lolo Beterano and his Apo.”
