The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) joined the 83rd Anniversary Celebration of the Department of National Defense (DND) led by DND Officer-in-Charge, Senior Undersecretary Jose C. Faustino Jr. The event, with the theme, “DND @83: Matatag na Sandigan ng Sambayanan para sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran,” was held on 14 November 2022 at the AFPCOC, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
PVAO Administrator, Undersecretary Reynaldo B. Mapagu and Deputy Administrator, Assistant Secretary Restituto Aguilar, together with the DND leadership and other bureau chiefs, graced the event to celebrate and reflect on the lessons of the past 83 years of service to the country.
“The DND has tirelessly worked for over eight decades to sustain the peace and development of the nation,” Senior Undersecretary Faustino said, reiterating the crucial role of the department in nation building, especially as “an anchor in which every Filipino can rely on in times of uncertainty.”
As the highlight of the program, DND presented its 10-Point Defense Agenda which enumerates the top priorities of the administration and will serve as its guidelines in creating effective policies that ensures the nation’s peace, stability and development. The 10-Point agenda also includes the welfare of soldiers, veterans and civilians as part of the department’s priorities.
“It is an honor to stand united and firmly commit with you, our modern day heroes and patriots, in steering the department in fulfilling its mandate and securing the nation to make way for strategic economic development through which we can build our country better and stronger as envisioned by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr,” Senior Undersecretary Faustino also said.
The DND also recognized the model supervisors and employees from the One Defense Team which include the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Office of Civil Defense, National Defense College of the Philippines, Government Arsenal, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and PVAO. The awardees from PVAO who exemplified outstanding service to the country and Filipino veterans were Mr. Danilo Asuncion as PVAO’s Model Supervisor and Ms. Jocelyn Sarol as PVAO’s model employee.
“Today’s awarding ceremony honors our colleagues who have not only fulfilled their respective roles with the excellence expected from all of us, but also went above and beyond their normal work routine to deliver the necessary outputs for the Department,” Senior USec. Faustino said.
