MOA Signing of PVAO with BCDA on LNMB

The Philippines Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) together with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) signed the P100 Million supplemental Memorandum-of-Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of the Libingan ng mga Bayani Comprehensive Master Development Plan (LNMB-CMDP) at the BCDA Corporate Center Boardroom, Taguig City last 09 May 2018.

The LNMB-CMDP is a five-year development program for the national military cemetery approved by the Secretary of National Defense, Delfin N. Lorenzana and jointly implemented through the partnership of PVAO and BCDA. The LNMB-CMDP seeks to rehabilitate and turn LNMB into a world-class national cemetery. Spefically, the development concept is to limit the clutter and unnecessary details in the shrines, strengthen visual axes, provide quiet and exclusive spaces, follow strict themes, and buffer areas in the cemetery for better access and visibility.

A projected P3 Billion budget is needed to fully rehabilitate and develop LNMB by 2023.

This recent MOA signing was in support of the budget allotted by Congress for the FY2018 phase of the project. Notably, the amount of P356 Million has been transferred earlier to the BCDA to fast track the project implementation.

The LNMB-CMDP envisions to make the LNMB hallowed grounds a living reminder of the patriotism and sacrifice of our martyrs and heroes. Consistent with PVAO’s Kagitingan Road Map 2022, the LNMB will become a tourist destination where Filipino citizens, especially the youth, may derive a keen sense of their great historic past and imbibe a deep feeling of national pride where love for country flows from.
