Retrospecting with pride, the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) celebrated its 76th Founding Anniversary led by PVAO Administrator, Usec. Reynaldo B. Mapagu and PVAO Deputy Administrator, ASec. Restituto L. Aguilar, on 27 October 2022 at the PVAO Compound. Department of National Defense Officer-in-Charge, Senior Undersecretary Jose C. Faustino Jr., who was represented by Defense Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans and Reserved Affairs Nemesio M. Gacal, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the event.

For this year, the celebration is anchored on the theme, “Kabayanihan ng Beterano, Inspirasyon ng mga   Kawaning Pilipino,” acknowledging the Filipino Veterans’ valor, heroism and selfless dedication to public service as the primary inspiration of the public servants of this generation, especially the PVAO employees.

ASec. Aguilar welcomed the guests with his opening remarks, thanking them for being a part of PVAO’s success through the years. He also acknowledged the efforts of Pangkat PVAO for the agency. “I have seen how each one of you has been an integral part in the substantial transformation of PVAO, from a pension-administering organization to an agency that lobbies for the rights of our veterans, preserves the memory of our Filipino heroes, and empowers the Filipino veterans community,” ASec. Aguilar said.

In the message of Senior Undersecretary Faustino delivered by Undersecretary Gacal, the Officer-in-Charge, DND commended PVAO for its service to our veterans and committed the support of the One Defense Team in ensuring their welfare and preserving their heroic legacy. “While society continues to thread amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Pangkat PVAO has courageously navigated turbulent waters to fulfill its functions and remained faithful to its mission,” he added.

Looking forward to the next years under the new administration, he also urged PVAO to align its strategic initiatives under the Kagitingan Roadmap 2028 to the 10-Point Defense Agenda. “Having synchronized programs will surely make the implementation of various programs much easier,” he also said.

Meanwhile, USec. Mapagu is optimistic about the upcoming projects and initiatives of PVAO for the year ahead. He also gratefully acknowledged the hard work and dedication of PVAO employees and all its partners to the continuous development of PVAO. “I sincerely ask for your continued support and cooperation in providing the needed services of our veterans for the years to come. I am eagerly looking forward to work with you towards achieving an empowered and unified veterans community,” USec. Mapagu addressed everyone.

During the momentous event, Former PVAO Administrator, Usec. Ernesto G. Carolina and Former Deputy Administrator, ASec. Raul Z. Caballes, along with other PVAO retired officials and PVAO partner organizations and institutions, were also recognized for their tireless dedication, significant contributions and unwavering support to attain PVAO’s long term goal of an empowered veterans community.
