Liberation of Biñan

Liberation of Biñan / Biñan, Laguna

As part of the drive to Manila, the troops of Hunters ROTC 47th Regiment put up a series of roadblocks to secure the Zapote – Alamanza crossroads. Fleeing Japanese troops were ambushed in Cupang, Muntinlupa and Alamanza, Cavite. Meanwhile, the 1st Battalion of the 47th Regiment secured Alabang – Laguna junction, after a fight against reinforced enemy troops.

Through weeks of bitter fighting in the Southern area of Manila, the 47th Regiment continued to secure the Biñan – Sta. Rosa stretch. On February 3, despite resistance from a strong Japanese unit garrisoned in Biñan, Lsguna, the Allied Forces finally liberated the town, suffering only with little casualty. Every February 3, Biñan commemorates their freedom from the Japanese.
